North Carolina election history since after world war II till 2000:
Presidential elections went for the demarcates until Lyndon Johnson's election in 1964, after that all elections went for Republicans with one exception, Jimmy Carter's election in 1978.
Other statewide offices went for democrats with almost no exceptions.
