Presidential election history:
1864 - 1928: Since Abraham Lincoln's election in 1864 and the inception of the republican party, until FDR's election and the great depression, Presidential elections were only won by republicans except Grover Cleveland's elections in 1884 and 1892 and Woodrow Wilson's elections in 1912 and 1916.
1932 - 1948: after the great depression and throughout world war II, there was 5 elections won by Democrats, 4 by FDR and one by Harry Truman.
1952 - present: Afterwards, from Dwight Eisenhower's election in 1952 until present day, the presidency was divided exactly in half between both party.
